Free websites for small UK charities
Monj is offering limited free website builds, or light refreshes of older pages, for selected small registered UK charities that need a clearer digital home.
This is practical website help, not a sales funnel. There are no Monj setup fees, no monthly Monj charges, no paid priority route and no obligation to use Monj afterwards.
A simple digital home
The aim is to help a genuine charity look active, clear and trustworthy online, without needing a large agency budget.
New page or tidy-up
We may be able to build a simple starter site, or refresh an older page that needs clearer wording, better structure or a cleaner mobile layout.
Kept realistic
This is free work, so the scope has to stay sensible. It is not unlimited design, ongoing support, legal advice or a complex web platform.
A clearer website without the agency bill
A simple website can make a big difference. It can help supporters find your charity, understand what you do, check your registration details and contact the right person without digging through old social posts or half-finished pages.
Free from Monj
No Monj setup fee, no Monj monthly fee, no commission and no requirement to buy anything from us.
Build or refresh
We may create a simple new website, or tidy up an older page that needs clearer structure and layout.
Yours to keep
The finished files are intended to be handed over in a standard format that another web professional can edit later.
No forced credit
A Monj credit is welcome, but not required. No forced footer link, badge, testimonial or public thank-you.
What “free website help” means
It means Monj may help with a simple website build or a light refresh without charging the charity. The charity still owns and controls its own information, policies, wording and future decisions.
What it does not mean
It does not mean unlimited revisions, legal review, fundraising advice, ongoing tech support, custom software, a large rebrand or a guaranteed place. We keep the scope narrow so the offer stays fair and useful.
Best suited to small registered UK charities
This is mainly for grassroots, early-stage or smaller charities that need a practical digital starting point. Because the work is free, Monj has to choose projects carefully and keep the scope realistic.
We may be able to help if:
- You are registered with a recognised UK charity regulator.
- You have a limited website or digital budget.
- You need a simple information site, not a complex platform.
- You can provide accurate wording, contact details and registration information.
This is probably not right if:
- You need a member login, portal, dashboard or bespoke software.
- You need advanced donation processing or payment systems built from scratch.
- You expect a large agency rebrand with unlimited revisions.
- You want to pay to skip the queue. There is no paid route into this programme.
Already have a page? We may be able to tidy it up
Some charities do not need a brand new website. They already have a page, but it feels dated, hard to read or awkward on mobile. In those cases, a light refresh may be more useful than starting again.
A good fit for a light refresh
- An older page that needs clearer wording or layout.
- A basic site that needs tidying rather than rebuilding.
- Improving mobile readability, visual trust and structure.
- A charity that can send its current link, wording and key details.
What a refresh does not cover
- Not every existing site will be suitable.
- Not a promise to repair large or complicated websites.
- Not ongoing maintenance or endless design changes.
- Not legal, compliance, fundraising and technical support all bundled together.
We do basic checks, but we do not “approve” charities
Before offering help, Monj may carry out simple checks to make sure the applicant appears genuine, registered and suitable for the programme. These checks protect everyone, but they are not a public trust mark.
Simple eligibility checks
We keep this practical. The aim is to confirm that the request looks genuine and manageable before we commit time to a free project.
Charity registration
We may check public charity register details and compare them with the information in your application.
Authorised contact
We may ask you to confirm that you are allowed to request website work on behalf of the charity.
Project suitability
We may review the current site, public links and proposed content to see whether the work fits this offer.
Being accepted for free website help does not mean Monj has audited, endorsed, certified, validated, approved or regulated the charity. It simply means we have chosen to help with limited website work.
From idea to handover
We keep things straightforward, so your charity gets a clear process from first message to finished handover.
Say hello
Send us your charity details and a quick note about what you need.
Quick checks
We’ll do a quick look at the charity register to make sure everything’s above board.
We get to work
If we have capacity, we’ll build your simple new site or refresh your old one.
Handover
We send you the files. We can even point you towards free hosting options if needed.
Apply for free website help
If you represent a small registered UK charity and need a simple website, or a modest refresh of an older page, send Monj the details below. We review each request individually, but we cannot promise to take on every application.
- What to include in your message:
- Registered charity name and charity number
- Your name, role and charity email address
- Existing website or social links, if available
- Whether you need a new site or a light refresh
- A short summary of your charity’s mission and what you need
Clear answers before you apply
This section keeps the offer clear. It is friendly, but it is also deliberately specific, so charities know what Monj can and cannot provide.
Is it really free?
Yes. There are no Monj setup fees, no Monj monthly fees and no requirement to buy anything from Monj. The offer is limited because it depends on our available time and whether the project is suitable.
Can we pay Monj to be accepted faster?
No. There is no paid priority route, paid acceptance route or paid charity website package attached to this programme. If a project is not suitable for the free offer, paying Monj will not change that.
Do we have to use Monj hosting?
No. The charity remains independent. We may point you towards free or low-cost hosting options, but you are not required to use any specific provider. Third-party hosting, domains and tools may have their own costs and terms.
Who writes the content?
Your charity must provide accurate wording, contact details, registration information, policies and any statements about your work. Monj can help present information clearly, but the charity remains responsible for accuracy and legal compliance.
Does Monj endorse charities accepted into the programme?
No. Basic checks are internal eligibility checks only. Acceptance does not mean Monj certifies, validates, audits, regulates, approves or endorses the charity, its fundraising, governance or activities.
What happens after handover?
Unless separately agreed in writing, the charity is responsible for maintaining the website after handover. That includes updating information, checking links, renewing any domains, managing hosting and reviewing content accuracy.
