How Long Does a Mounjaro Prescription Take? Approval, Dispatch and Delivery Times

Add those up and a clean first order placed on a weekday morning arrives in two to four working days. A repeat order with an existing pharmacy is faster because the review is lighter: same day or next day approval, and delivery the day after. The fastest realistic path is order early Monday, approved Monday, delivered Tuesday or Wednesday. The slowest common path is order Friday afternoon, query on Monday, approved Tuesday, delivered Wednesday or Thursday.
Why it cannot be instant
Mounjaro is a prescription-only medicine and, since February 2025, the General Pharmaceutical Council treats weight-management medicines as high risk for online supply. A pharmacy must independently verify your weight, height and BMI rather than take a form at face value, must have two-way communication with you before prescribing, and should notify your GP with your consent. Speed claims in adverts and on social media deserve scepticism for another reason: affiliates earn commission on sign-ups, and “mine was dispatched within the hour” is a claim that costs nothing to make. Compare stated processing times on the pharmacy’s own site, not on a referral post.
What causes delays
- Missing or unclear evidence. A blurry scale photo, a height photo without a tape measure, or ID that does not match your name are the commonest reasons an application goes into a query queue. Our ID check guide lists what is accepted.
- Inconsistent answers. A questionnaire that contradicts itself, or a BMI that sits close to the pharmacy’s threshold, gets a manual review. Check each pharmacy’s BMI rules before you apply.
- Emails in spam. Prescriber queries arrive by email. An unanswered query stalls the order until you reply.
- Timing. Orders after the afternoon cut-off, on a Friday, or before a bank holiday lose a day or more because most pharmacy operations do not dispatch at weekends.
- Volume. Price drops and new-dose launches create backlogs. A pharmacy that is normally same-day can slip to two or three days for a week.

How to get it faster
- Order on a weekday morning, ideally Monday to Wednesday.
- Take your photos before you start: full-body against a plain wall, feet on the scale with the reading visible, height with a tape measure, and clear photo ID.
- Answer the questionnaire in one sitting, consistently, and read it back before submitting.
- Have your GP practice name ready and give consent for the notification; refusing it usually means a refusal to prescribe.
- Whitelist the pharmacy’s email address and check spam twice a day until the order ships.

If your order is stuck
Two working days with no approval, no query and no dispatch email is the point to act. Check your spam folder and your account page on the pharmacy site first, since many pharmacies post queries there. Then contact the pharmacy directly by its own support form or phone, quoting the order number. If you get no response in a further working day, most pharmacies will cancel and refund on request, and you are free to order elsewhere. One thing not to do is place a second order with another pharmacy while the first is pending. Both will notify your GP and both may be approved, leaving you with two pens and one refund request.
