Wegovy and Ozempic Click Calculator: Clicks per Dose, by Pen
A click is a volume, not a dose: 0.01 mL on every Wegovy and Ozempic pen. What that is worth in milligrams depends on which pen you are holding, and the UK range runs from 0.68 to 3.2 mg/mL. Pick your exact pen below to see clicks, volume and what the pen actually contains, taken from the manufacturer’s own figures.
Key facts
- One click moves 0.01 mL of solution on every Wegovy and Ozempic pen. What that is worth in mg depends on the pen’s concentration, which varies almost five times across the UK range.
- Wegovy 0.5 mg and Ozempic 0.5 mg each come in two UK presentations. The same 0.5 mg dose is about 37 clicks on the 1.5 mL pen and about 74 on the 3 mL pen.
- Every UK Wegovy and Ozempic pen delivers four weekly doses at its labelled strength.
- These are fixed-dose pens. The counter stops at the labelled dose, so a pen cannot deliver more than that in one injection.
- Dialling less than the labelled dose is off-label and its accuracy is not tested by the manufacturer.
- The flow check before the first injection from each new pen uses solution that is not part of your four doses.
- Solution visible after the fourth dose is not a fifth dose. The manufacturer says it is insufficient and the pen should be discarded.
- UK licensed maximums are 2.4 mg weekly for Wegovy and 2 mg weekly for Ozempic, which is where this calculator caps.

Choose the exact pen in your hand. The pen strength on the box is not enough on its own: Wegovy 0.5 mg and Ozempic 0.5 mg each come in two UK presentations with different concentrations, so the same dose is a different number of clicks.

How much is left in my pen?
Volume left is the manufacturer’s figure minus the doses taken. It does not account for the flow check, which uses a small amount from every new pen, or for any solution lost to a blocked needle.
Reference tool only. It reports what the manufacturer’s own figures imply; it does not tell you what dose to take. Dial the dose your prescriber has given you using the pen’s dose counter, and speak to them before changing anything.
What a click actually is
Wegovy and Ozempic are delivered by Novo Nordisk dial-a-dose pens. Turning the dose selector moves an internal mechanism in fixed steps, and each step makes an audible click. On these pens one click moves 0.01 mL of solution, regardless of which pen you hold.
That is why a click is a volume, not a dose. How much medicine is in 0.01 mL depends entirely on the concentration of your pen, which ranges from 0.68 mg/mL to 3.2 mg/mL across the UK range. One click is 0.0068 mg on a 0.25 mg Wegovy pen and 0.032 mg on a 2.4 mg Wegovy pen, a difference of almost five times. Any click count you read online that does not name the exact pen it applies to is worthless.
The consequence people miss most often: the same 0.5 mg dose is 37 clicks on the 1.5 mL pen and 74 clicks on the 3 mL pen, because those two presentations are different concentrations. Both are sold in the UK, for both Wegovy and Ozempic. Check the mL figure on your box, not just the mg.
Every UK pen, with clicks per full dose
Figures below are calculated from each product’s Summary of Product Characteristics. Click counts are rounded to the nearest whole click, because the pen cannot deliver a fraction of one.
| Pen | Concentration | Pen contains | One dose | Clicks per dose | mg per click |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wegovy 0.25 mg | 0.68 mg/mL | 1 mg in 1.5 mL | 0.37 mL | 37 | 0.0068 mg |
| Wegovy 0.5 mg (1.5 mL) | 1.34 mg/mL | 2 mg in 1.5 mL | 0.37 mL | 37 | 0.0134 mg |
| Wegovy 0.5 mg (3 mL) | 0.68 mg/mL | 2 mg in 3 mL | 0.75 mL | 74 | 0.0068 mg |
| Wegovy 1 mg | 1.34 mg/mL | 4 mg in 3 mL | 0.75 mL | 75 | 0.0134 mg |
| Wegovy 1.7 mg | 2.27 mg/mL | 6.8 mg in 3 mL | 0.75 mL | 75 | 0.0227 mg |
| Wegovy 2.4 mg | 3.2 mg/mL | 9.6 mg in 3 mL | 0.75 mL | 75 | 0.032 mg |
| Ozempic 0.25 mg (starter) | 1.34 mg/mL | 2 mg in 1.5 mL | 0.19 mL | 19 | 0.0134 mg |
| Ozempic 0.5 mg (1.5 mL) | 1.34 mg/mL | 2 mg in 1.5 mL | 0.37 mL | 37 | 0.0134 mg |
| Ozempic 0.5 mg (3 mL) | 0.68 mg/mL | 2 mg in 3 mL | 0.75 mL | 74 | 0.0068 mg |
| Ozempic 1 mg | 1.34 mg/mL | 4 mg in 3 mL | 0.75 mL | 75 | 0.0134 mg |
| Ozempic 2 mg | 2.68 mg/mL | 8 mg in 3 mL | 0.75 mL | 75 | 0.0268 mg |
Every pen in the table delivers four weekly doses. The Ozempic starter pen is the exception worth knowing: it holds 2 mg and is designed to give four doses of 0.25 mg during your first month, or four doses of 0.5 mg, depending on how it has been prescribed.
What the pen will and will not let you do
These are fixed-dose devices. The dose selector turns until the counter reaches the pen’s one labelled dose and then stops; there is no menu of doses to choose from. The counter, not the clicks, is the method Novo Nordisk validated and the MHRA approved.
Three practical limits follow:
- You cannot dial more than the pen’s labelled dose. A 1 mg pen cannot deliver 1.7 mg in one injection whatever you do with the selector.
- Dialling less than the full dose is off-label. The pen can physically be stopped short, which is what click counting relies on, but accuracy at partial travel is not something the manufacturer tests or guarantees.
- The flow check consumes solution. Before the first injection from every new pen you dial the flow-check symbol and press until a drop appears. That volume is drawn from the cartridge and is not part of your four doses. If no drop appears you repeat it, up to six times, using more.
There is also a fact people misread as a bonus. Novo Nordisk states plainly that after the four doses have been given there may still be solution visible in the pen, that this remainder is not enough for another dose, and that the pen should be disposed of. Visible liquid is not a fifth dose. The same argument applies to Mounjaro, where the leftover has a nickname; our running out between pens guide covers what to do instead when a pen finishes before your next order arrives.
Mounjaro cannot be click counted
If you are on Mounjaro rather than Wegovy or Ozempic, none of this applies. The Mounjaro KwikPen is not a dial-a-dose pen: there is no dose selector and no clicks. You press and hold, and the pen delivers one fixed 0.6 mL dose. The only way to change your Mounjaro dose is a new prescription at a different strength. See the modified KwikPen guide for how that device works and what changed in 2026.
Before you use any of this
- Your prescriber sets your dose. Wegovy and Ozempic are prescription-only medicines with a titration schedule designed to reduce side effects. Changing dose without your prescriber undermines that and can make nausea and vomiting worse.
- Ozempic is licensed in the UK for type 2 diabetes only, not for weight loss. Using it for weight management is off-label and should only happen under supervision, and it is one of the reasons Ozempic supply has been squeezed for the people who need it for diabetes.
- Never take more than the licensed maximum: 2.4 mg weekly for Wegovy, 2 mg weekly for Ozempic. Higher doses circulate online and in unlicensed products; they are not UK licensed presentations of these pens.
- Do not double up a missed dose. Both leaflets give a specific rule for missed doses. Follow it rather than improvising.
- If you are stretching a pen because of cost, that is a solvable problem. Prices for the same pen differ substantially between UK pharmacies; comparing is a safer saving than sub-dosing. Report side effects through the Yellow Card scheme.
Common questions
How many clicks is 0.25 mg of Wegovy?
On a Wegovy 0.25 mg pen, a full 0.25 mg dose is 0.37 mL, which is about 37 clicks, because that pen is 0.68 mg/mL. On a more concentrated pen the same 0.25 mg is far fewer clicks, so the answer only means anything alongside the exact pen.
How many clicks is 0.5 mg?
It depends which presentation you have. On the 1.5 mL pen, at 1.34 mg/mL, 0.5 mg is 0.37 mL or about 37 clicks. On the 3 mL pen, at 0.68 mg/mL, the same 0.5 mg is 0.75 mL or about 74 clicks. Both are sold in the UK for both Wegovy and Ozempic.
How much medicine is one click?
One click moves 0.01 mL of solution on these pens. How much drug that contains depends on the concentration, from 0.0068 mg on the least concentrated pens to 0.032 mg on the Wegovy 2.4 mg pen.
How many doses are in a Wegovy or Ozempic pen?
Four weekly doses at the pen’s labelled strength. After the fourth dose the manufacturer states any solution still visible is not enough for another dose and the pen should be discarded.
Can I dial a smaller dose than the pen is labelled for?
The pen can physically be stopped before the counter reaches its labelled dose, which is what click counting relies on, but this is off-label and the accuracy of a partial dose is not tested or guaranteed. Your prescriber decides your dose, and the dose counter is the validated way to deliver it.
Does the flow check use up medicine?
Yes. Before the first injection from each new pen you dial the flow-check symbol and press until a drop appears, which draws solution from the cartridge. If no drop appears you repeat it, using more. This is why a pen contains slightly more than four doses’ worth.
Can I click count on a Mounjaro pen?
No. The Mounjaro KwikPen has no dose selector and no clicks; it delivers one fixed 0.6 mL dose per injection. Changing a Mounjaro dose requires a new prescription at a different strength.
What is the maximum dose of Wegovy and Ozempic in the UK?
Wegovy is licensed up to 2.4 mg once weekly for weight management. Ozempic is licensed up to 2 mg once weekly for type 2 diabetes only. Doses above these are not UK licensed presentations of these pens.
